house project exterior

Since the majority of the work we've done to this house so far has been to the interior, this is basically what we started with. You'll see that some of the new windows have found their way into the house. The rear porch is where a lot of the initial work went into. The one pic shown here is after we exposed the original porch structure. There was this cheap vertical wide plank siding that enclosed the porch to look like a big white box. Originally the top floor was a screened-in sleeping porch, the bottom floor was also open. It looks much better now, but you can see what we had to work with. It wasn't pretty.

That house will look so cool, once you deal with the white paint! The front door could be stunning....and I love the beadboard porch ceiling! Noce details....it needed someone like you guys to take it under wing.

I know yu mentioned latex paint for the brick. My foundation is painted concrete that is peeling & I need to deal with soon. Anyway, I've been told epoxy paint works well on concrete.....you may want to check it out for brick.

Why people decide to put that first coat of paint on virgin brick & stucco is beyond me. But we are stuck with it once they do it, huh?

Thanks, it was a real pain closing on this house but it will be worth it in the end.. At one point this house suffered as an apartment building, but luckily the interior floorplan wasn't altered. Much of the trim on the top floor was removed long ago though. Our carpenter is replicating it back to how it originally was.

It's amazing how slowly it is turning back into a house though. It has a lot of potential. I need to find the pics of the interior from before we started working on it. Even now, the difference is drastic. The concrete floor and steps of the front porch have been painted, I wasn't sure what kind of paint to use there but I'll look into epoxy. Thanks!
